Boracay Of The North
Hannah's Beach Resort |
Nestled among endless turquoise waters
and powdery white sand in Pagudpud is a seven-hectare exclusive paradise
that is emerging to be the crown jewel of Ilocos Norte.
Even before entering Hannah’s Beach
Resort and Convention Center, one would already feel a sense of being at
peace with nature. The sprawling mountains, the breathtaking views of
the sea, and the sight of windmills all pave the way for the perfect
getaway experience to come.
The resort is a tranquil escape for weary urban dwellers and a thrilling adventure for those who want adrenaline rush. Situated right along the shores of the
famous Blue Lagoon, Hannah’s is blessed to be in the part of Pagudpud
where the sand is as fine as powder and the shallow beach is as clear
and blue as the skies above. It is enclosed by a range of mountains
and cliffs, transforming the place into a cove where one could frolic 50
meters to the sea and the water remains chest-deep.
The Blue Lagoon has spectacular
turquoise waters and a magnificent view. The place is so pure and
innocent that it could easily rival the setting of the 1980s Hollywood
film Blue Lagoon that launched Brooke Shields to full stardom.
While the main draw of the resort is
being located in the most beautiful and most perfect portion of the Blue
Lagoon, Hannah’s offers myriad activities that would cater to all types
of guests.
There is the 1.2 kilometer zipline,
reportedly the longest over water, guaranteed to provide adrenaline rush
to thrill seekers who want to soar over azure waters while flanked by
sloping mountain sides.
For the sun worshipers, you can
surfboard, jet ski, snorkel or kayak, or choose between a leisurely ride
on a banana boat or an adventurous one on a speed boat.
Timmangtang Rock stands majestically a few meters away
from Bantay Abot Caves. It is located along the shore & partly by
the sea. You cannot separate Bantay Abot Caves from the Timangtang Rock
for they are believed to be lovers the former being the female & the
later is the male. They are collectively turned a “Lovers Rock”.

"Pagudpud actually consists of three vast beaches, strung along Luzon's
northern edge and hemmed in by huge points jutting out into the ocean.
Coconut palm-backed Saud Beach is where the resorts are. Maira-ira, also
known as Blue Lagoon, is a few points east. Deserted Pansian beach is
still further on, near the bother of Cagayan Province. "*
It should be called the "anti-Boracay of the North" since it boast of beautiful white beach backed by rows of coconut palms minus the noise and nightlife of Boracay. In fact you can call it either serene or boring depends on how you want to look at it. If you are standing in the middle of Pagudpud, Saud beach the photo above is the scene that you would see on your left side with the shores transforming into a rocky coastline

Saud Beach is often hailed as the “Boracay” of Northern Philippines. I
can’t help but go in a “beach critic” mode whenever someone mentions the
comparison. The long sandy stretch fringed with tall coconut trees
at Saud Beach resemble that of Boracay’s White Beach but there are many
differences as well. The sand of Saud Beach is not as fine and has a
yellowish tint unlike the sugary white sand of Boracay.
Patapat Viaduct |
Patapat Viaduct is a winding bridge found at the
foot of the cliff of the North Cordillera Mountain Ranges. It is a
viaduct connecting Barangay Balaoi and Barangay Pancian.
This bridge is often referred to as the French Riviera of the North.
It is along this winding bridge where you can find the once upon time
enchanting Mabugabog Falls but now it already serves as one of the
sources of power of the mini-hydro electric plant it is only during the
rainy days when it shows its splendor with its water dropping
rhythmically to a precipice on the rocky shore of the sea below.
While at the middle of the bridge, you could take a look at the
awesome view of the sea below and the verdant mountains at the other
side. The bridge its surround it
makes it really a breathtaking scenery to behold.
Paraiso Ni Anton |
Paraiso ni Anton, on the other hand, is a mini-falls
along the road with steps leading to a grotto. Travelers who pass by to
go to Cagayan usually get water from the natural drinking water from the
falls which is also said to be miraculous.
Kabigan Falls |
Kabigan Falls are definitely worth a visit, its a fairly easy walk
through the local village and the scenery is lovely with rice fields and
streams on either side. Once at the falls its peaceful and a nice place
for a swim, especially as we were the only ones there.
